These are some of the stories and results of the love and comfort of the gifts created for, donated to and gifted by the Prayer Shawl Ministry.

All Prayer Shawls and Lapghans and other items gifted from the Ministries are done so without regard for denomination, faith, race, creed or any other factor other than the human need for compassion,
God's love and our prayers. All items have been blessed prior to being gifted.

Kathleen A was a lung cancer patient. She was gifted a Prayer Shawl called "Mermaid" on December 4, 2018.

Carney, KS

This is John and Ranetta P. John is in hospice for advanced Renal failure. Ranetta requested a shawl for each of them to help them through John's ordeal together. Our Prayers are with them.

Larry M was a tireless volunteer for St. James Parish. He was a member of the Lansing Council of the Knights of Columbus, spent many years working for our Bingo! He worked for Playhouse and many other events at St. James. He always sang the loudest at Mass and always had a handshake and a smile to share.

Paul G had a serious scare in 2017 when his heart decided to take a break. Luckily he had professional help nearby and is back to good health now.
He has always been a chronic and vital volunteer at St. James!

Robert P is a Bingo! worker and regular Parish volunteer. He recently underwent knee replacement and is recovering.

This is Dolores R. She is battling liver cancer at 85. She received "Baby Doll" on or about June of 2019. Our continued prayers surround her as each stitch in the shawl represents the Father, Son and Holy Ghost--Amen!

This Lapghan was sent too late for the intended comfort, but still carries many blessings.
Brian and Louise were engaged to be married, but he lost his battle with cancer. The Lapghan was packaged and sent to Louise. When she opened it, she exclaimed that green and yellow were Brian's favorite colors and how did we know? Elsa attributes it to Divine Intervention!
Louise placed the Lapghan on Brian's chair and refers to it as "Brian's Blanket."
In the pictures you see his urn with his favorite hat on it and even the tablecloth is green. Louise has shared with us that when she wraps up in "Brian's Blanket," she feels that he is sending her hugs from heaven!

This is Joey. He and his mother were avid Bingo! players at St. James. Everyone loved his sweet disposition in spite of his lifelong endurance of Down's Syndrome (44 years!).
He was taken prematurely from us by pneumonia on Valentine's Day.
He was gifted a Lapghan called "Pixie Garden".
He loved it.

Craig C's wife and daughter were also avid Bingo! players at St. James. Sadly he lost his battle with cancer but not before he received his Prayer Shawl and wishes of love and comfort from God and the Ministry.

Roseanne R is a St. James Parishioner battling stage 4 cancer. She was gifted her Prayer Shawl and given all the blessings and good wishes the Ministry and God could send.

Brianna is a student of Kathleen L. She is confined to a wheelchair with MS. She needed a special Poncho so she could go outside with the other children and a coat or sweater was too hard for her to deal with.

Sophie F is living in a nursing home. She was 99 years young when she received her shawl and blessings in 2018.

St. Louis, MO

Geraldine M has brain cancer. She had been given six weeks to survive when she received her Prayer Shawl and blessings and she is still going strong
2 1/2 years later! She is living on her own now and and her brain cancer is being defeated!

Lindale, TX

This is Jill P. She has a neurological disorder that causes her to fall asleep. She is mother to three. She has to have support to care for her children because she is required to get 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep since her illness can cause her to fall asleep standing up. Jill received "Every cloud has a silver lining" by Barb B in March of 2017.
